June 9th: Women of Calibre Fun Shoot & Optional Cookout/campout/Horse Ride

1:00-4:00 pm Saturday, in Fort Valley, VA (near intersection of Fort Valley Rd - Rt 678, and Oak Tree Rd.), 9 miles South of Secret Passage Ranch.
This Women of Calibre weekend begins with an informal shooting session, using your handguns or ours (we will have NRA certified instructors available to help coach), and shoot fun reactive steel and plastic targets. After a safety briefing, you will have the opportunity to try our variety of .22, 9mm, and .40 calibre semi-automatics, or .38 revolvers. This is not a certified course, and no certificates are offered for this fun shoot.
The $30 dollar fee covers use of our handguns, coaching, paper and reactive targets, porta-johns, and insurance for the event.
Ammunition is NOT included. You may either purchase our ammunition for as long as you want to shoot (at retail prices comparable to Walmart), or bring your own .22, 9mm, .38, or .40.
Please join us for the following free events after we are finished target shooting:
4-6 Hike the property, set up for cookout, set up tents for camping
6-8 Amazing cookout over a campfire, using your favorite campfire recipes - Girl Scouts rock!
8-until? Campfire - adult beverages, S'Mores, Ghost Stories, and watching shooting stars in the field.
Sunday the 10th:
Sunrise Service (optional)
8-10 Campfire Breakfast - coffee percolating over an open fire is the BEST!
Pack up camp

Your friends who may not want to shoot, but want to camp and cookout and ride are welcome! But they need to sign up on the website and on facebook so I know how many ladies to expect.
More detailed instruction (and directions) will be sent two weeks prior to the event. We will be in Fort Valley, Virginia, in zip code 22652, approximately 72 miles west of Fairfax, and 20 miles southwest of Front Royal.
THIS IS A WOMAN ONLY EVENT -- WOMEN AND THEIR DAUGHTERS (OVER 16) ARE WELCOME. WE MAY HAVE MALE INSTRUCTORS DURING THE SHOOTING PORTION, BUT THEY WILL LEAVE WHEN THE SHOOTING IS OVER.

Please join us for a cookout and campout which will follow our fun shoot (you do not have to attend the shoot in order to cookout/campout).
Bring your favorite camp recipe, and plan for a great evening under the stars.
Equipment list and directions will be sent later. We have an 80-acre wooded property with a wonderful campfire circle, and the best views of shooting stars west of DC.

Fort Valley, VA (20 miles SW of Front Royal, 75 miles from Fairfax - directions will be emailed to participants)
This course is designed for rifle students interested in mastering accuracy and speed on both paper and reactive steel targets using a variety of positions and movement.
Drills range from focusing on traditional rifle positions and accuracy to firing on the move, firing on steel from distance behind cover, adverse firing positions, decision making and reactive drills.
Students at all skill levels benefit from taking this course to improve their accuracy and speed. The day will end with challenging field courses designed to use the skills practiced during the day, and will make use of the rolling wooded terrain on this property.
Required Equipment List:
1. Semi-automatic rifle or carbine
2. 300 rounds of rifle ammunition
3. Minimum of 3 magazines (20 or 30 round magazines)
4. Any tools necessary to disassemble rifle or adjust the sights (we have sight adjustment tools for A1 and A2 sight systems)
6. Eye and ear protection (muffs are mandatory)
7. Cap with a bill
8. Sling or carrying strap must be attached to the rifle
Optional Equipment List:
1. Magazine holder/carrier (back pockets work fine)
2. Knee and elbow pads (we will be shooting prone and kneeling)
3. Lubricant
PREREQUISITE:
1. Rifle must be zeroed (at 50 or 100 yards)
YOU MUST BE A US CITIZEN and bring proof to class.

This one-day seminar will cover the following skills sets vital for self-defense, concealed carry, and action pistol shooting events (IDPA or USPSA):
1. Drawing from a holster to maximine speed for placing accurate hits on the target.
2. Rapid placement of multiple hits on a target
3. Rapid placement of hits on multiple targets
4. Use of cover - moving to cover, firing from cover
4. Use of Movement - while drawing, moving to cover, and while firing
5. Techniques for smooth and rapid reloads
By the end of this course, students will be able to demonstrate: safe firearm handling skills, use of the trigger reset and sight tracking concepts when firing multiple shots, proper gripping and drawing of the firearm from a holster, smooth presentation of the
firearm to the target and accurate hits at ranges varying from 3-10 yards, loading and reloading using principles of consistency and economy of motion, safe movement while drawing and shooting, and the ability to transition smoothly from target to target.
We will end the course with shooting mini-scenarios applicable to self-defense situations or an action pistol match, in which all of the skills practiced during the day will be utilized.

1. VA concealed carry permit
